Welcome home

Are you looking for an interesting new home in the heart of Saint Louis? Would you like to live in a fast-growing area with new restaurants and shops opening around the corner? Forest Park Southeast has a motto: "Halfway to everywhere" and it's true. This townhouse is seconds from the Central West End and down the street from Dogtown, Forest Park, University City, Downtown St. Louis and South Grand.

Just two blocks away, Manchester ave. is a bustling new hot spot full of new restaurants, bars and shops. They're opening every day!

In the other direction, Saint Louis University and Washington University Medical School at Barnes Hospital is just over the highway. There's a metro stop on campus within walking distance to take you anywhere in the city.

Modern architecture

Modern Architecture

The interior of this townhouse was redesigned by an architecture professor at Washington University to expose the brickwork of the original building and accent the stones with modern angles and a very open floorplan. Two 13 foot windows spill light into the living room, which looks down into the fully-finished lower floor. High ceilings and rich golden hardwood flooring really light up the room. A large skylight above the angled stairwell leading to the top floor spreads sunshine down the 20 foot brick wall that spans the two levels as you walk up to the bedrooms.

Cozy touches

Woodburning stove

The warm red brick hues in the townhouse are complimented by cozy finishes like this antique wood burning stove. I had the chimney refurbished to good working order and I use the fireplace all the time to fill the room with warmth and a wonderful woodsy aroma.

Master bedroom with a view

Master bedroom

Master bedroom patioWake up in the morning to coffee on the terrace from the master bedroom! A quaint deck on the second floor connects the two bedrooms with glass-paneled doors that let in the light. The patio is covered by a large oak tree that provides privacy as well as shade. It's the perfect spot for a morning coffee or an after-dinner nightcap. The large master bedroom features high ceilings, a walk-in closet with generous space for two and an open bathroom layout wrapping around to the hallway.

The bedrooms and the house at large are very quiet and comfortable. Despite being close to the medschool, I've not once heard an ambulance or siren. Because the townhouse isn't exposed to the street, there are no cars buzzing about and no noisy voices to wake you up in the morning. If you'd like to sleep in, just draw the shades and snooze that alarm. If you need to wake up, open the blinds and let in the sun!

Huge finished basement

Finished basementThe two 13 foot windows on the main floor extend down to a fully finished basement. The room is finished with carpet, recessed ceiling lighting and lots of open space. It's the perfect spot for an entertainment room or office. The basement is complimented with a large closet under the staircase as well as a second closet for extra storage and an unfinished third bathroom. [*Purchaser note: I never quite found time to finish the bathroom but the hookups for toilet and sink are installed and waiting for your finishing touches! Alternatively this can be used for storage of things like garden tools for your backyard.]

About Me

I'm a young designer/artist with an eye for the unique. I live in New York City now, but I loved living in this townhouse with its unique architecture and amazing location. It really is halfway to anywhere in the city I want to go. I'm a non-smoker, have no pets and I would generally consider myself a pretty clean, organized person and I'm looking for tenants who share that sentiment. This townhouse was a perfect fit for me and I hated to leave it, but New York was calling my name!
